Ashley Furniture lets TRS (a collection agency) review your layaway file
Oct 1, 2008
Ashley Furniture complaint by DeeScrewed1
Be careful. Ashley Furniture allows a company called TRS (The Rental Store) who is actually a collection agency, to review your layaway file so that TRS can call and ask if you want to get your furniture earlier they will finance it. It is a rent-to-own that costs 3x's the amount of the furniture. TRS has harrassed me & made illegal threats. Don't fall into this trap! The poor will have more to lose! Keep notes if you do business with TRS. Not that it will help because managers did not last at the store that I did business with, so whatever was said to me did not mean anything. Read your State laws on rent-to-own and harrassment by these type of companies.

I have been hearing horror stories about Ashleys and how they do business, even by ex-employees. I wonder how they are still in business.

Ashley Furniture is a straight up joke. I walked in a couple weeks ago and immediately was welcomed by a couple gals at the front. As I made my way around the store, I felt like I was being followed. At one point a young gentleman seemed to act as if he was moving something, but as soon as moved, he would appear just a few feet away. Eventually I became interested in a bedroom suit that was on clearance. This stalker popped up in no time. As I came closer to buying this suit, I went to ask about delivery. We don't deliver he said. What? What ya mean u don't deliver? He says..well we don't deliver our clearance stuff. Are u kidding me? How was I supposed to get this entire set home? You won't believe what he offered me? He says...well, I know someone here that might let you pay him to use his ..get this...horse trailer!!! I was speechless. Thank God I didn't sign anything..I said a few choice words and walked out..talk about insulting. :(
