I purchased a leather sofa and matching leather loveseat at Ashleys. Before they were a year old the finish started coming off the loveseat in 4 different areas. Ashley sent someone out to inspect it and they said they would order replacement fabric and call me when it came in. Approx 2 weeks later they called and picked up the loveseat.

It was returned a week later and looked O.K. Approx. 8 months later the exact same 4 pieces of fabric were losing the color and finish again. I returned to the Ashley store (Yuma, Az) and complained about the discoloration again. At this time I was told it was beyond the warranty period and there was nothing they would do about it. I explained that the fabric that they had supposedly replaced and was now wearing out again was only 9 months old but they still refused to do anything about the problem.

I contacted the furniture repair person that Ashley uses for warranty repairs. He advised me that he had never worked on my loveseat and it was his professional opinion that the first time the loveseat was picked up all Ashley did was recolor the fabric, NOT replace it. He also stated that he had never seen leather discolor in the EXACT same 4 places before. The places where the fabric is losing its finish are not areas of extreme wear such as the seat. He also advised me to contact the Ashley Complaint Dept.

The 2nd time I went to Ashley was in early May off 2008 and we left for an extended ( 2 months) vacation. We returned home on the 1st of August and I decided to send this letter and see if I could get some justification from Ashley.

The couch which we purchased at the same time as the loveseat is in perfect condition which tells me the loveseat was made with defective fabric.

Since mid 2000 when we purchased our home in Yuma we have spent thousands of dollars at Ashley. If we do not hear from someone from Ashley regarding our loveseat, you can be sure that our future furniture purhases will be made elsewhere and all of our aquaintances will be warned of Ashleys practices.

I can be contacted at my home address, 11241 E. 37th Lane, Yuma, Az or by phone at: 928-345-9566

Sincerely, Walter Dillon
