We will all get a grip if you get a reality check?

First of all, it seems that you are unable to read and it's sad you lack compassion for the victims in this blog. If Ashley furniture is so great, why are so many people being taken? It seems all the complaints are of the same kind of problems, not just one incidence. Honest people are giving Ashley furniture a fair try and most people are being taken. Good for you that you rolled the dice and got lucky. I don't know about the rest of you, but I don't have extra thousands of dollars laying around to waste, or time to roll the dice on Ashley and take my chances... By the way, because of this forum and the people who do care about others, I was able to save myself thousands of dollars on the mistake of trusting Ashley Furniture. P.S. Good Luck and Get Back to US in a year when your furniture does start falling apart.... You'll be screaming the loudest!

Awesome response!

I just decided to NOT purchase that $1400.00 livingroom set after reading forum AFTER FORUM of negative reviews. I wish I could say this is the first forum I read about Ashley's Furniture, but it's more like the 5th.

It's pretty easy for the reasonable person to separate those who scream about every little thing from those truly frustrated by a company. And it's almost shocking how many I thought were genuine real complaints (sifting out the private store issues, I worked for them, & what I felt were overstated issues). After all that sifting there are STILL a lot of complaints!

Your customer service complaints (which, sadly, are the things people are most angry about) go on for pages. Your reps present your company and the set-point of quality one can expect. Your reps alone make me not want to chance my hard earned money in this economy on someone who won't appreciate how hard I work for it should something go wrong. I would rather sit on my old ratty couch peacefully then on a defective couch on hold praying that I won't be the next person posting about *** service to be told basically 'it's just me not knowing who to talk to.' as though it's the disgruntled customer's problem from the get-go to figure things out. No wonder they're in a bad mood and complaining! Train the customer service reps better and help everyone including the time you spend replying to all these complaints!

I appreciate the effort you're making Tammy, however from an unbiased consumer (I have no positive or negative to report because I am deciding to not purchase in light of all this) I feel that these replies feel like an insincere lame attempt at best. I'm sure that is not your intent and I don't mean it begrudingly.

However, I did visit your website. I looked at the Testimonials first. Two positives are on the page. Wow. That spoke volumes to me. To a curious potential customer it says - pages of negatives (on these forums) and only 2 positives must mean 1 of 2 things. A - the company sucks or B - the company doesn't put a lot of care into their website so what will they do for me after they have my money. Either way it reflects badly.

Then I visited the FAQs and it clearly says (numerous times) that the independently owned stores have their own policies. Again it says 2 things to me. 1 - It's not your problem and 2 - You've made it clear that you don't want to deal with it. Which is fine, but what I don't see is what makes a customer feel cared for like...

We at Ashley's care about your business and while we our furniture is independently sold if there is ever a complaint about the quality of our furniture we want to speak with you and you can contact us at XXXX.

That's what doesn't exist. So, it's very difficult to trust one word from one employee. No, for this customer, the words of many unsatisfied customers speak much louder.

Hope that you will present that to your company for a different view and that these things will change and you gain me as a customer.

Being 1st or 2nd means nothing to me because it doesn't guarantee a good experience. Look at Walmart for goodness sake. I wouldn't shop there to save a buck because the service is horrendous at the stores in my area. I'd rather pay more and keep my sanity. Same concept here.

Good luck to all the upset customers and thanks for saving this blue collar girl from a bad purchase!

Get a grip

Not every company is perfect. However, if Ashley has become number 1 in North America and number 2 in the world, they must be doing something right! For those of you complaining, maybe you should look at the person pointing the finger! My whole house is filled with Ashley Furniture and I couldnt be more pleased with the customer service, quality of the product and style. And no, I'm not an Ashley employee. Just a dedicated customer that appreciates good quality product to make my home warm and comfortable for my family. If you want low rated furniture, or to only spend $1.00 you should buy at a flea market.

I was shopping at the Roseville store with my husband. I had come in on the recommendation of my sister and her husband.

They told me that they had to wait a few months the last time they ordered, but that the prices were really good for the quality they got. We were sitting on a sofa near their counter and there was an obnoxious man acting like a child. The lady behind the counter was trying to explain that she wasnt able to call te boss or the person in charge. He kept pointing his finger in her face and saying she was worthless and that she lied to him.

Evertime she'd ask what she couldve lied to him about he'd yell even louder! My husband wanted to grab the guy and toss him out but I told him to stay out of it (He's a big guy and could hut someone) But even I wanted to tell him to stop. He was being and *** and she was only trying to help him as much as she said she was able. We asked if she was okay when we saw her in the storage room.

She said it was fine and she understood that he was upset. I found out that she didnt even sell him the furniture! She is just trying to help out until eveything is caught up and all of the customers have their furniture and are happy. Sounds like a decent person to us!

I will be buying furniture again and I know we will come in asking for this lady! She was so nice and we couldnt believe the way people spoke to her and the girl who works there with blonde hair. We are just customers who were shocked how mean people could be even when they have someone helping them that doesnt even have to do this. She was just trying to be nice and do whats right.

Cant you be decent? Seriously, my husband is a big guy and you dont ever want him to find a grown man (even a short and kind of wimpy grown man) picking on any women. You will regret it!

If that isnt enough, is that how you make yourself feel manly? Picking on women and puppies-huh?

Comment to Tammy: I can appreciate your "loyalty" to your employer, Ashley Furniture. But, please don't put people down for voicing their issues.

Granted, there are many people who you won't make happy no matter what, but there are many of us who are having real issues with Ashley Furniture. Many of us have tried going through the proper channels to resolve the issues we're having, but aren't getting any help!

I am employed with Ashley Furniture Industries, Inc. in Arcadia, WI.

I would like to thank you for taking the time to post your positive experience with Ashley Furniture.

It is very unfortunate that people feel the need to post their negative experiences rather than putting their time and energy into contacting the proper channels to assist them with finding a reasonable resolution to their situation. On behalf of Ashley Furniture, I wish you and your family many years of happiness with your Ashley purchase!

Bedroom Furniture

The headboard was flawed. It had fish eyes from factory finish. They made an effort to repair it by staining it, but it doesn't resemble factory made. The nine drawer dresser, the drawers do not fit flush to the front of the dresser. They sent one technician to look at it at the time the headboard was fixed. He was unable to do anything to the dresser except take pictures, Ashley will not take back defected dresser and made an appointment to return. Meanwhile we cannot put our clothes in the drawers so we're living out of boxes

I work at the ashley factory in arcadia wi. I also happen to be on 1 of the 3 assembly lines that make head boards and mirrors.

We get paid for how many we make not how it looks. If there is something wrong we quite often just put stain or crayon on it and send it. The ways its set up us employees cannot care what it looks like... I get paid $20.00 an hour to make ***...

If we take our time and go slow making good product we make $9.00 an hour... what would you do?

Damaged a mattress when loading and said they are not responsible

I recently bought a mattress and box spring from Ashley furniture. It was going to be $75 dollars to deliver (in the same town), so we decided to pick it up.The warehouse workers loaded it on to our truck and walked off. We tied it down, etc. We got home and unloaded and there was *** in the box springs. They had put the box spring on the bottom and the corner of the bed of the truck poked *** in it. I called them , they said they were not responsible and would charge me a 30% restocking fee. I loaded it up and took it back. I won't pay the 30% fee . I also won't be shopping there anymore

Poor Quality, Poor Repairs, Repeat Problems

Purchased slate table from Ashley Furniture in Oct 07. After taking delivery in Nov 07, a few weeks later pieces started falling off of the table. We complained to Ashley Furniture and they sent a repairman to repair the table. The repair was inadequate (obvious repair, not what one would expect for a $500 slate table) so they sent a replacement table. A few weeks later, the second slate table was falling apart in the same manner. We complained again, same story...repairman, inadequate repair, the company sent another table. A few weeks after receiving table #3, it started falling apart in the same manner as the first two. Now we want our money back and the merchant will give us nothing more than store credit, even though we're still within the 1 yr warranty of the original purchase. BEWARE of Ashley Furniture! They've lost our future business.

Ashley Furniture Tyler Texas has no customer service.

I recently ordered some bedroom furniture and after delivery noticed the footboard was damaged and the rails were manufacutured improperly. I was contacted by someone in the Tyler store on that same day and told that the furniture would be ordered and a tech would contact me on the Following Monday. It is now Thursday and I am doing there job and finding out what is going on with my furniture. I learned that when you purcase from the Tyler store you deal with the Longview store. After making several phone calls I got everything scheduled. Terrible Service. Not again.

Ashley furniture has no customer service!!

Ashley furniture in Augusta Georgia has royally screwed me. I purchased a bedroom set with a king size bed. The sales man bob told me that he had everything set up and we told him at least 10 times that we wanted a king size bed. On the delivery day they of course sent us a queen size bed. On the order form bob had sent for a queen size bed instead of a king. now I have a king size mattress and box spring in my living room. The Augusta store told me they would order a king for me and pick up the queen when they deliver it. No one can give me a date on when it will be sent and I have tried to contact the manager Sheryl there 4 times to which after being on hold for a very long time have never been able to talk to her. This is ridiculous and I hope this is resolved quickly or legal action will be taken.

Failed to handle complaint.

I purchased a leather sofa and matching leather loveseat at Ashleys. Before they were a year old the finish started coming off the loveseat in 4 different areas. Ashley sent someone out to inspect it and they said they would order replacement fabric and call me when it came in. Approx 2 weeks later they called and picked up the loveseat. It was returned a week later and looked O.K. Approx. 8 months later the exact same 4 pieces of fabric were losing the color and finish again. I returned to the Ashley store (Yuma, Az) and complained about the discoloration again. At this time I was told it was beyond the warranty period and there was nothing they would do about it. I explained that the fabric that they had supposedly replaced and was now wearing out again was only 9 months old but they still refused to do anything about the problem. I contacted the furniture repair person that Ashley uses for warranty repairs. He advised me that he had never worked on my loveseat and it was his professional opinion that the first time the loveseat was picked up all Ashley did was recolor the fabric, NOT replace it. He also stated that he had never seen leather discolor in the EXACT same 4 places before. The places where the fabric is losing its finish are not areas of extreme wear such as the seat. He also advised me to contact the Ashley Complaint Dept. The 2nd time I went to Ashley was in early May off 2008 and we left for an extended ( 2 months) vacation. We returned home on the 1st of August and I decided to send this letter and see if I could get some justification from Ashley. The couch which we purchased at the same time as the loveseat is in perfect condition which tells me the loveseat was made with defective fabric. Since mid 2000 when we purchased our home in Yuma we have spent thousands of dollars at Ashley. If we do not hear from someone from Ashley regarding our loveseat, you can be sure that our future furniture purhases will be made elsewhere and all of our aquaintances will be warned of Ashleys practices. I can be contacted at my home address, 11241 E. 37th Lane, Yuma, Az or by phone at: 928-345-**** Sincerely, Walter Dillon

Garbage furniture - get the warranty!!

The people on here who are vouching for the quality of this furniture must be paid endorsers - this stuff is as cheap as it gets in materials and workmanship. How can you dare call it "affordable" when you are wasting your money on garbage that will not stay together? Who can afford disposable furniture? If you are going to waste your money here, at least purchase the extended warranty, and don't lose the paperwork, because you WILL need to call them and get your stuff replaced. Both my sofa and loveseat split down the seams, and then the frame cracked, all within a year of owning it, and it took over a month to get them replaced. The customer service we received was rude at best. I am embarrassed that I own this stuff.

I did extensive research on furniture before I bought 4 pieces for my living room. I could not afford all top-of-the-line furniture and knew Ashley was classified as low-end.

Therefore, I purchased one high-quality top-rated American-made piece elsewhere for $2,100 and the other three pieces for the room from Ashley for a total of $1,600 combined. The Ashley pieces are very pretty, but I don't expect them to last more than a few years due to the fact that it is lower-end quality, which I knew going in.

I plan to furnish the whole room with quality furniture piece-by-piece over the next 5-10 years and to sit on the Ashley pieces as little as possible in the meantime so that they retain their appealing looks before I replace them. I think that's the way to build a room if you don't have $10,000 - $15,000 upfront for all high-end pieces.

I hate Ashley Furniture

I have been waiting for 11+ weeks for my furniture to come in. They told me it would take 3-6 weeks. I have called the scheduling department and they do not know anything. They can't/won't tell me anything in relation to my furniture. I have gone and talked to the store manager in North Charleston, SC. He won't do anything. They are awful people to deal with. I want my money back but they make you sign this paper saying you will give them 20% if you cancel your order no matter if they don't even know if your furniture might ever come in. Horrible people! Do not buy anything from them!

Sounds like corporate does a horrible job managing their franchise. I TOOOOOO will never do business with Ashley furniture.

Not only is the furniture junk but like so many others have mentioned their service *** right makes you furious. We bought a love seat, couch and three tables...and a protection package since we have dogs and kids.

I had one claim I submitted because one of my guests who came over had lots of hair product in his hair to have a flat top/spiky look. Well all the color and leather pretty much disintegrated at the head spot and looks like ***.

#522280

Visit i hate ashley furniture on facebook to see my $2500. Couch just over a year old. Remind you..

this is from water.

#479547

Their furnitures are junk and they have the worst customer service ever!My brand new couch sagged and looks awful. I can't return it and their customer service person is rude and they never do anything or respond to your request. Stay away from this store!!

#262956

I read MANY postings like this one claiming Ashley furniture has poor service and slow delivery. So, I went direct to the warehouse to make my purchases.

We STILL are experiencing the same thing. Ordered the product on January 15th and was immeditely informed it would be backordered for atleast a week.

It is now 10 weeks later, we just recieved ANOTHER call that the furniture that THEY make is on back order for another 4 weeks. Be smart and stay away, it is not worth the hassle, these people suck!

#26554

I also hate Ashley Furniture. Ashley Furniture needs to invest in some serious training.

Customer service/customer satisfaction is obviously not a priority. We ordered furniture over 13 weeks ago and we are still waiting. We have been repeatedly lied to and I will never order anything else from this company or recommend them to anyone. I contacted the Consumer Affairs office.

I was told that their office would contact the upper management of the store where I made the purchase so that they would contact us. Several weeks later, the Lexington warehouse personnel contacted my husband last week to tell him 12 trucks were coming in on August 5, 2008 and that our furniture would be on one of the trucks. Today, August 6, 2008, we were told our furniture is still not available. We have tried to resolve this issue, but the saga continues.

To add injury to insult, one of the items we ordered is in the Charleston, SC store on display.

We were told we could not purchase the item because it was just for display purposes. I know the stores are owned and operated independently, but why is there a consumer affairs department that serves no purpose!?????.

I found Andre Edwards and he's still selling furniture!!!

To all those who were ripped off by Andre Edwards> I found him selling furniture at the new Ashley furniture store in Patchogue on Sunrise highway just a short distance from his old store. This guy has some set, the way he can just move on and think he can get away with ripping off so many people. I wish that each and every one of us would contact all the news stations in the tri-state area and make a compliant to their consumer affairs reporters and have his face plastered all over the TV stations. I plan on doing just that, if we all stick together we can get our money back and be financially compensated for all the *** this man has put us through. Please lets stick together. Today is August 2, 2008 and he is working now. He is off Friday. Go get Him!!!!!!!

Liars, crooks and thieves at Ashley Furniture Roseville, CA

Do Not buy from Ashley Furniture in Roseville. They are nothing but liars and thieves! Save yourself the grief I am going through. They won't tell me when I can pick up my furniture and I can't cancel or I pay a 30% cancellation fee. Hopefully there is a big bonfire in *** for people who use other people for their own personal gain. Business in America has gone to *** in a handbasket and the consumer is left holding the bag. Avoid this sore at all costs. They won't even answer their damned phones, goes direct to voicemail. ***

Misrepresented themselves in advertisement

I recently purchased five bedroom sets from the Ashley super store in Houston, texas(Katy) and was told that all of it would be delivered except for one set(my set for the master bedroom), that was okay at the time. It has now been three weeks since I made the purchase and I have yet to receive all of my furniture. I have contacted two managers and to no avail they did not help me(what was I thinking), I will never shop the Ashley super stores again. They say they deliver same day or next day, that is a lye.

Ashley Furniture Excellent Service

WE RECENTLY PURCHASED A DINING ROOM SET FROM ASHLEY FURNITURE. PRIOR TO IT BEING DELIVERED ASHLEY CONTACTED US TO ADVISE THAT THE GLASS IN THE CHINA CABINET BROKE DURING SHIPPING AND THEY WOULD SEND OUT A TECHNICIAN TO REPAIR THIS AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. THE REPAIR TECH DID A GREAT JOB AND ASHLEY FURNITURE COMPENSATED US WITH A CALCULATED REFUND FOR OUR INCONVENIENCE. WE COULDN'T BE MORE PLEASED, THE FURNITURE WE PURCHASED IS EXCELLENT QUALITY. THE SALES STAFF WERE FABULOUS AND I CAN'T SAY ENOUGH ABOUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE WE RECEIVED. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND ASHLEY TO ANYONE WHO IS LOOKING FOR GOOD QUALITY FURNITURE AND EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WILL DEFINITELY SHOP AT ASHLEY FURNITURE AGAIN.
