Lost 2 days' pay waiting for Ashley rep to arrive.

I'm a shift worker, with days off on odd days of the week. When the Ashley representative called and arranged to come by yesterday (Tuesday, the 5th of February) I said sure because it was a normal day off for me. But if I'd worked overtime, it was counted as a double-time day! 2 days wages for 1 day of work! Sure enough, my company contacted me Monday to work Tuesday, but I had to turn it down because the rep said he would be here "between 10 and 1." And he failed to show at all! I called Ashley this morning and told them what happened. They said they would try to get hold of the rep. Then I told them to check out this website, adding that the common thread (even with the complaints about the furniture itself) was poor customer service. When I returned home this afternoon I had a response from the rep on my answering machine stating based on my description of the damage he went ahead and put in an order for a replacement and Ashley would be contacting me regarding a delivery date. He went on to apologize for missing the appointment, and that my paperwork had gotten mixed up with some other stuff on his desk. Dandy. It took them two and a half months to deliver the original, no telling how long to deliver the new one. And yesterday I was reading their warranty (while waiting uselessly) and the warranty starts from the date of purchase of the original item. Not from the date of delivery, certainly not the date of replacement.

Ashley Furniture Home Store Tyler, Texas

I am having TROUBLE with pillows that came with the sofa and over sized chair purchased from Ashley Furniture Home Store in Tyler, Texas. Owners, Louis and Pat Mellius. One week after delivery, which by the way took 2 1/2 months after ordered to receive, I called and talked to the manager (owner's son) that the loop fringe on the pillows was pulling out. That was Nov.23, 07. I was told by the manager that a technician would come out to check the pillows and if they could not be repaired, they would be replaced. Dec 11, 07 a technician FINALLY comes out after numerous phone calls to the store by myself and husband. The technician took pictures and said someone would be calling me. Dec. 29, 2007 I called the store to find out WHAT they were going to do about these pillows. I was told new pillows would be ordered. On 12/31/07 I received a phone call from the woman who places orders for the store and she informed me that the owner wanted me to bring the pillows to the store BEFORE they could order new ones. I took the pillows in on 12/31/07 (all 8 of them) and the owner, Pat Mellius, insisted I leave them there so the Millenium Furniture Marketing Rep could inspect them. I get a call the next day from the Millenium marketing rep, Mark, who informs me he did not find anything wrong with the pillows. He stated, They are in show room quality condition. Iasked him specific questions about the pillows and it turns out the owner Pat Mellius made a switch. The marketing rep was shown a set of pillows that were not the ones I left there. I called the next day and talked with Pat Mellius. She stated, the marketing rep has inspected these pillows and he agrees with me that there is nothing wrong with them. I through a fit. I told Pat Mellius that I would be returning the two pieces of furniture and eat the 30% restocking fee. Mrs. Mellius stated that returning the items was not an option because there is nothing wrong with the set. Mrs. Mellius refused to set up another inspection with the millenium marketing rep while I was present for the inspection. BOY do these owners of this furniture store have a BIG surprsie in store for them. I am filing every complaint possible and reporting these owner's and this franchise to the State Attorney General's Office for fraud. I purchased these items WITH the EXTRA protection plan on each piece. I have pictures of the pillows, they have been filmed on my video recorder, and I WILL not allow these people to maneuver us this way. It is WRONG on so many different levels. So, BEWARE, because Ashley Furniture Home Store's may be the number one retailer of furniture today, but at the rate these franchises are going, I'll dare say, 10 years from now they won't be. What gets people in the door are the finance options. That marketing strategy only goes so far. If this particular Ashley Furniture location here in Tyler Texas were having a buy anything you want in our store for $1.00 and get the second item free sale, I would not buy from them EVER again.

If that's the only problem with your furniture you are lucky. There is a thread that is sewn around the frilly loop fringe on your throw pillows that is installed for shipping purposes only.It is meant to be removed.About 2% of the people know this.Once the thread is removed, the loop threads can be trimmed evenly with your scissors.

I had a totaly great experiance with the Ashley Furniture store in Tyler,Tx. I was able to puruchase a kids bedroom set in great condition in the rear discounted room for less than half price it sold for on the showroom floor and had it assembled and loaded onto my trailer after the dock staff had carefully wrapped it for transportation. Thanks Ashley Furniture Home Store here in Tyler,Tx.

Store repaired table leaf instead of replacing it.

We bought an Ashley dining table, 6 chairs and a protective table pad. The table leaf looked as if it had been dropped on its end corner causing a raised corner. It also had the finished scraped on the end. The pad had glue oozing out between the layers and lots of air bubbles between the layers. The clasp which holds the pieces of pad together wouldn't stay secure. The store picked up the defective pieces and said they'd see what could be done. They repaired the corner of the leaf, but you could still see where it had been dropped. The finish on the edge was still scraped. The pad had been cleaned of excess glue and they bent the clasp so it would stay in place. The air had been pressed out of the sections. Granted, the dropped leaf is minor, but when you pay good money for supposedly new furniture, you expect good quality. I guess I'm better off then someother complaints, but still, I'm not happy. I'll never buy or recommend anyone to Ashley Furniture.

THEY MUST TRAIN THEM ON BEING LAIRS

I have told everyone I know not to shop at Ashley's - that is the best revenge - they hound you as soon as you walk through the door, I spent 6K & the customer service was horrible, I was told they never have a sale, 3 days later they did - @ $800 cheaper - I asked for a price adj & from the top down they would not do anything, as a matter of fact wanted to charge me a 30% restocking fee - when it had never been pulled for delivery. They also screwed up the delivery - it was like too bad we have your money so ***. We just have to spread the word & eventually put them out of business. They won't last long treating customers this way

The problem with Ashley Homestore is that all the sales people are commissioned. Just like a car sales rep, all they care about is to sale that *** thing and get their commission.

But Ashley Products are great. They are not made in some Chinese factory, so you depend on quality. As for shopping, the best thing to do is buy from a small Mom and Pop store in your area. You will get personal service, if anything wrong with product, you know EXACTLY who to contact.

We have a small business in N. California and also sale online.

We sell lots of Ashley products and I am happy to say that 80% of our customers are repeat business. We do have some problem with Ashley warehouse, but our customers don't feel that discomfort.

Guest

I know what you are all going through... I work at Ashley Furniture. I have been for almost 2 years. I work behind the counter taking the money and doing financing. The reason they hound you at the door is because the sales people only work on 4% commision and work 10 hour days. They have to make a quota. It's hard.

Personally... I wouldn't buy the furniture there. That sounds bad since I work there. The stuff is nice but I just don't trust the delivery process. It is always late and things are broken or damaged. I know you all want to call the store and complain to us but we can't do anything about it in the showroom. The showroom is only where you make the purchase. After that it gets ordered and shipped to the closest warehouse. It's all them now. The showroom does nothing beyond the purchase. We can't because we don't see the furniture. I get calls after calls after calls of people yelling and cussing at me because I am a "selfish ***" because I am not helping them. Trust me... I do what I can. I can't do EVERYTHING. I take down your name and number and I can call the warehouse for you. We can call the managers there but, really, there's nothing we can do. It's all up to the warehouse. We can give you the number to there.

I want a new job. They don't pay me enough to deal with everything. I make $9 an hour doing so much and I hate it. I need a new job but it's so hard. I know I am complaining.... I just don't like it. :P

I hope everyone gets what they want. I won't shop there and I work there!

We spent 5500 and got the same terrible treatment. Several complaints about purchases.

Main one recliner leans to one side. Owner of the store I bought it at told me it was probably just not assembled correctly and if he ordered us another one it may not be any better.

That should tell us something about quality. When we sat in it the first night it got worse, we called and they was very rude and said they would have somebody come look at it (could be three or four weeks) to see IF it would be covered under warranty.

Another Peeling Leather Sofa

I also had a problem with my leather furniture from Ashley. I bought a leather sectional and within 6 months, the leather started peeling. I called the customer service department and they agreed that the leather was faulty. They replaced my sofa with another sofa and once again within 6 months, the leather started peeling. The sofa is also sagging and has nails sticking out the back. The nails have rubbed against my wall and left large marks on the wall. I now need to repair the wall. I expect a sofa to last longer than 6 months, so I will never buy from Ashley Furniture again!!

I am in a very similar situation. My mother-in-law purchased us a new leather love seat, sofa, and the EXTENDED Warrenty from Ashley's in Murfreesboro, TN. The leather started peeling within the first year. We contacted Ashley's only to be told that they were NOT going to repair or replace either peice. I tell everyone I know that is going to purchase new furniture NOT to buy from Ashley's!!!!!!!

Very UNSATISFIED Customer!

Don't bother calling this

number. The person I spoke with was of as little help as the local store where I purchased my 2 pieces of junk!

After instructing me that I need to condition leather in order for it to last...HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHAHA, OH PLEASE... she offered an email address and dismissed me more than once. Ashley "furniture", the things others are saying about you are true. You show lovely merchandise but, buyer...

BEWARE! Hope everyone now knows that not conditioning is the cause of all these problems.

Poor Workmanship/Customer service

I purchased a 42" dining table with 3 chairs. Two of the chairs were damaged. Ashley attempted to tounch them up. They looked like seconds. I refused them. They have been to my home 9 times and counting with replacement chairs. The chairs have a film on them and have come with chips on blk. paint, varnish missing, roughness, smudge marks that won't remove and wht streaks on chair legs. They came two Sundays without notice. They tell me when they are coming. Supervisor will not notify me. They offered a 10% discount & void warranty! No! What Mission Statement?

I did extensive research on furniture before I bought 4 pieces for my living room. I could not afford all top-of-the-line furniture and knew Ashley was classified as low-end.

Therefore, I purchased one high-quality top-rated American-made piece elsewhere for $2,100 and the other three pieces for the room from Ashley for a total of $1,600 combined. The Ashley pieces are very pretty, but I don't expect them to last due to the fact that it is lower-end quality, which I knew going in.

I plan to furnish the whole room with quality furniture piece-by-piece over the next 5-10 years and to sit on the Ashley pieces as little as possible in the meantime so that they retain their appealing looks before I replace them. I think that's the way to build a room if you don't have $10,000 - $15,000 upfront for all high-end pieces.

Guest

ashley furniture is nothing but junk and the montage furniture services insurance is worthless. Very low quality furniture

Guest

I have bought living room coffee table and three end tables. Loved them so much I bought a kitchen table to match.

I have had them for five years now. They are all looking just fine. None have falling apart. All tables need to be tighten up once in a while.

I am so pleased with Ashley furniture, that I was looking for a Homestore near me.

I don't like buying things out of a book. In a market for new living sofa.

Ususally, people don't buy furniture on impulse. Especially spending $1800.

You either can afford it, or you can't. Sounds like to me that you have a case of buyer's remorse and are looking for a way out of having to pay for it.

Here in Florida many people buy new furniture on credit and soon after sell the furniture in the newspaper. Of course they have committed contractual theft and turned over to the fraud department and collections. Sometimes they use the same complaint...furniture no good sold it.

:( I purchased a living room group by Ashley only 2 years ago, had the material treated the hole nine yards. Within the first six months the staples started coming out.

They were not even stapled into wood--cardboard! I called the store, they said someone would be out to fix it, no one showed. I wrote and E-Mailed Ashley Furniture, to this day no one has contacted me. Since this the material has begun to pull apart as if it were rotting out.

So, buyer beware. They do not care!!!

Evienguyen is probably one of those people who calls the store every day and bugs them until they are forced to give some kind of answer. Information can change from day to day, so if you call every day you might get a different answer.

Hey Spammy,

Posting the same canned comment on every post doesn't help your company's image.

It's not even applicable to most of the posts you comment on.

Just like your store managers, you're not really listening and you don't really care.

Ashley Furniture - Where's my furniture?

On Jan.15, 2008 we purchased a bedroom set for over $4,000. (first time bought $4K in Living Room furniture without incident.) We have not received any furniture to date 2/8/08. We were told our CA King box springs & mattress only will be delivered tomorrow. It has been a nightmare trying to get straight answers on where our furniture is. I have called & written the main office in WI to only discover the store I dealt with is privately owned. So....does that mean I do not deserve good customer service? AUCH! I will not buy from Ashley again.

I was just going to buy a 4,000 bedroom set at Ashley's...no more. I do not need any problems, there is so many furniture stores in the area that I will look around.

There is nothing more important to me than good customer service and those generic e-mails from Tammy02....no thanks. I do not want to be just another statistic.

I ordered my furniture (living room set, dining room set & 3 bedroom sets) around the 2nd weekend in August. According to the salesman EVERYTHING I ordered was on back-order and my furniture would take around 4-6 weeks to deliver.

This was not a big deal to me at the time as I was moving the 3rd weekend in August and wouldn't have to move it to my new house. However when I called around the 3rd weekend in September I was told my furniture would not be ready until the 1st week in October. I was told all of my furniture was on hold for one bedroom set that was still on back-order. So the 1st week in October I called and they informed me that my order had been shipped from the manufacturer to the warehouse, but they were still waiting on the back-ordered bedroom set.

By this time I was getting a little annoyed as I host Thanksgiving at my house and I didn't even know if I would have any furniture (I sold my old furniture when I moved). From this point on I called once a week every week and was informed every time that they were still waiting on my back-ordered bedroom set (and speaking with the store manager gets you absolutely no where). Finally sometime around the middle of the 2nd week in November I received all of my furniture. From beginning to end this ordeal lasted 13 1/2 weeks for something I was told would only take 4-6 weeks.

I can guarantee you that I will never again do business with Ashley's furniture. They have absolutely no customer service skills and once they make the sale the customer no longer matters.

Lied about bedroom set being available in the future

I purchased a canopy bed and dresser thinking I would be able to add to the set later. I specifically asked about this, and was told that it was a new set and would be available. I put 30% down and when I returned 30 days later to pay the balance notice that the complete floor model set was on sale for the same price I paid for just the bed and dresser. I inquired about this and was told that it was on sale because it was being discontinued.....I was totally shocked and asked to buy the complete set instead of the one I ordered. The complet set was only 400 dollars more than what i was going to pay for just 2 pieces. I was told there was nothing they could do as my furniture had already been ordered. I feel like I was lied to and cheated because cancelling my order caused me to have to forfeit my original 30% deposit of $1424.00 I will never ever do business with Ashley Furniture again.

Ashley Furniture Complaint

We purchased an entertainment stand for a TV; it had 3 doors on the front that had interchangeable panels: either wood or glass. The sales guy said that the way it looked on the sales floor was the exact way it would look when it was delivered; was told it would be delivered in a week to 10 days. After 2 weeks, I still had no word from them. So I called the store, they had no record of my sale. Three customer service people later, they found my account only to say that it would be in the warehouse end the end of that month. I told them to call me when it came in and I would pick it up. Well, when I got there to claim my furniture, they showed my account under a different "first name" as well as the cabinet was unassembled, in a flat box. I threw a huge fit and the service manager had one of the workers assemble it on the spot. I will never purchase anything from them ever again. And I must add... I paid too much for it also!
