Ashley Furniture Shoddy Workmanship
I purchased an entire living room set from Ashley Furniture after arriving at my duty station. Since then, my ship has been deployed/out to sea about 75% of the time, meaning that my furniture has sat unusued for most of the last three years.
After returning from my most recent underway I noticed that some of the "leather" on two of the pieces was peeling off its fabric backing. I drove to the store where I purchased the furniture in the hopes of having them send someone out to recover those two cushions. Instead they informed me that Ashley only covers its fabric for one year after purchase. I then contacted Ashley headquarters because my furniture has not seen a year's worth of use, and in fact the couch cushion that is shredding has only been sat on maybe ten times since I purchased it.
Their headquarters directed me to a regional customer service office. That was over six months ago. Since then I was told the damage was caused by an animal (I have no pets, which I'd already told them), poor maintenance of the "leather" (I treat it with the same, high-end product I use on my car leather), and the air conditioning. They have not made a single attempt to repair the damage or compensate me to have it recovered and I've spent the last two months waiting on them to "hear back from their fabric supplier".Given the amount of money I spent, I would have expected this furniture to last me for at least several years worth of solid use.
I cannot begin to state how disappointed I am in Ashley's horrendous customer service or their shoddy product. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!
Monetary Loss: $4000.

Sounds like you purchased bonded leather, real leather doesn't peel. Almost of all of Ashley's "leather" products are 17% scrap leather bonded together over fabric and coated to get the look and feel(poorly) of real leather at a fraction of the cost of real leather. Next time invest in a top grain leather sofa and it'll last you for decades.
