We purchase a bedroom dresser and mirror hutch with a 3 yr. extended warrenty. The reason we bought this dicontinued model was that it matched the hutch that my grandfather had made. We paid for the unit and waited by the loading dock.
After we got it home and was tryint to attach the hutch, we noticed that the brackets were missing and the was a deep cut in the front left corner.
We contacted the store and they sent out a repair man to repair the damage. He told us that he could not repair the unit and the manager would be calling us. We contacted the sales lady and she confirmed that there was not damage to the unit prior to coming off the showroom floor.
The damage looks like when the warehouse workers come to take the brackets off the back of the mirror, they did not lift it high enough over the edge and cut the front corner or the unit.
The manager told us after three phones, that he would not return the warrenty price, would not be able to replace the unit, but give us only $100 to go somewhere else to get it repaired. We could also return the unit at our cost for a full refund.
When asked why we were sold an extended warranty if the unit was a discontinued item that they would not be able to replace or repair - there was no answer.
